Posted by csjones

River cruising is just not popular in Europe, it is also expanding its popularity in the USA. Because of the need for more berths for passengers to cruise the rivers inside the United States, the American Steamboat company has bought the now defunct the Majestic America Lines Empress of the North paddle wheel boat. The 223 passenger ship will be completely renovated, the ships name will change but  sound very familiar as the American Empress. The American Empress will be set to sail in the Pacific Northwest territory plying the Columbia and Snake Rivers. The ships itinerary will include Portland, OR;  Astoria, Clarkson, Richland & Stevenson, WA. With this rebirth of river cruising in the United States, the American Empress will carry on the tradition of passengers learning the rich history of America’s heartland and its iconic river ports. Sailings are set to begin in April 2014, reservations are now open.
